| Description | We produced and animated a series of motion graphics for the Space Gallery, an immersive exhibition at We The Curious, Bristol’s iconic science experience. Projected straight onto the back wall, they were designed to look like a giant viewing window into space. We storyboarded each animation to match the themes of specific planetarium shows, including one starring a mischievous alien named Blurgle Wurgle. |

To encourage visitors to take selfies with the Space Gallery’s life-size astronaut model, we developed the concept for a background projection showcasing real space imagery. This turned the display into a highly visual “Instagrammable” backdrop for visitors to take photos. This approach was also applied to the queuing area, where different animated videos played over a starry backdrop.
We carefully mapped the projections to the curves of the printed windows, taking the surrounding environment into account. We also considered the positioning of the astronaut to ensure the projection remained completely unobstructed.
Themed around each planetarium show, the animations were designed to entertain visitors while they queue. In one show for children, we captured the playful spirit of a mischievous alien, Blurgle Wurgle, through a narrative about their journey from outer space into the planetarium. The animation follows the missing alien hiding among asteroids, interacting and waving through the window and then finally sneaking inside the venue shown via mock security footage.
